Wait but he didn't do much damage against Aus in the Aus series so does that mean if you exclude the Aus series his average is superhuman? Or do I have the wrong idea about his performance in Aus? Did Aus batsmen just block him and score heavily off the others?

For some strange and still unexplained reason, the person masquerading as the NZ coach (Gary Stead) decided not to select him for one of the tests despite the attack altrrady being understrength.

Yeh the third test, the nightmare one where they lost a lot of players but yet they left out southee coz of the amount of workload he had over the previous tests

They played him in the pink ball test which obviously he would get assistance being a swing bowler but then at the swing bowling graveyard mcg he got plastered as did the others and then he got rested at the scg

The kiwis haven't played much overseas in last 2 years apart from the Aus tour, not enough variety in sample size I reckon - I was looking at the UAE tour in 2018 and they picked him for just one test there too, seems like they really want to keep him fresh for the times they pick him
